TERMS & CONDITIONS

 

 

All 2017 AFL Memberships are subject to the following terms and conditions.

1.      Purchase of Membership

If you are successful in your Membership application, the AFL will send you an email confirmation within 7 working days. Initial membership fulfilment in the form of a 2017 membership card and/or package will be sent by mail prior to the commencement of the 2017 NAB Challenge if your application is received prior to 31 January 2017. Beyond this date, further fulfilment will occur approximately 14 days after the date on which the AFL receives your application.

2017 Membership renewal applications received after Friday 31 January 2017 will be subject to a late fee of $25 for Adults and $10 for Juniors.

The AFL reserves its right not to accept any Membership application form in its absolute discretion.

2.      Term of Membership

Subject to the following terms and conditions, your AFL Membership will entitle you to the benefits of AFL Membership from the date of your first Membership payment to 31 October 2017.

3.      Access Entitlements

3.1   2017 NAB Challenge: All AFL Members will have Access* to all matches during the 2017 NAB Challenge.

3.2   2017 Toyota AFL Premiership Season: Except where stated otherwise, all Members will have Access* to up to 40 matches in any combination at the MCG and Etihad Stadium throughout the Toyota AFL Premiership Season. Due to demand, the Essendon v Collingwood ANZAC Day match is classified as a ‘reserved seat ticket’ event. AFL Members wishing to attend this match will be required to pay for a reserved seat and walk-up access will not be available.

3.3   2017 Toyota AFL Finals Series Weeks 1 and 2: Except where stated otherwise, all Members will have Access* to matches scheduled at the MCG and Etihad Stadium in weeks 1 and 2 of the Toyota AFL Finals Series. The AFL makes no representation or guarantee that there will be any match scheduled at the MCG or Etihad Stadium in either of weeks 1 and 2 of the Toyota AFL Finals Series. Members will be provided with further information regarding Toyota AFL Finals Series tickets in August 2017.

3.4   2017 Toyota AFL Finals Series Week 3: AFL Gold Members will have Access* to all Week 3 matches scheduled at the MCG and Etihad Stadium (and other venues, where their club of support is playing at those venues). AFL Silver Members will have Access^ to purchase a ticket to Week 3 matches scheduled at the MCG and Etihad Stadium and may purchase guest passes to Week 3 matches where the AFL makes them available.

3.5   2017 Toyota AFL Grand Final: Tickets to the 2017 AFL Grand Final will be made available to AFL Members in the following order of priority:

3.5.1   Priority Access^ to Gold Members who have nominated a club of support as part of their AFL Membership in respect of a club participating in the Grand Final (Grand Final Team Club Support).

3.5.2   Second Access^ to Gold Members who do not have a Grand Final Team Club Support (subject to tickets being available after the Priority Access period).

3.5.3   Third Access^ to Silver Members who have a Grand Final Team Club Support (subject to tickets being available after the Second Access period).

3.5.4   Fourth Access^ to Silver Members who do not have a Grand Final Team Club Support (subject to tickets being available after the Third Access period).

3.6   Cricket: Members will have access to international cricket test, Twenty20 and One Day International matches scheduled at the MCG (excluding Big Bash League matches). Tickets can be obtained only by reservation and are limited to one ticket per Member per match. Reservation fees apply. Additional guest passes may be purchased at the same price as tickets available to the public.

* Access to matches is not guaranteed. Access is subject to capacity and the AFL recommends that Members reserve a seat in order to guarantee entry, particularly at high demand matches. AFL Members will be required to pay additional fees and charges when reserving a seat and ticket agencies may charge a booking fee which is also to be covered by the Member. For any match other than the Essendon v Collingwood ANZAC Day match, access may be gained to designated unreserved seating on a first-come, first served basis subject to availability and Members can upgrade to a reserved seat at the venue for an additional fee subject to availability.

^ Access to purchase tickets at an additional cost. Availability is subject to capacity and is not guaranteed. Ticket agencies may charge a booking fee upon purchase of tickets, with such fees to be covered by the Member.

4.      Membership Categories

4.1   Gold Membership: Gold Membership is the highest level of AFL Membership, capped at 31,000 Members and available for purchase only to existing Gold Members. The AFL will offer Gold Membership to selected Silver Members for an upgrade to Gold Membership each season, with the number of offers dependent on the retention of current Gold Members. Gold members must renew their membership prior to Wednesday, 31 May 2017 in order to maintain their Full membership entitlements for 2017 season.

4.2   Silver Membership: Silver Membership is available to all current AFL Members and, subject to availability, members of the general public seeking to purchase AFL Silver Membership for the first time. New Silver Memberships are subject to a once off joining fee of $295 (adults and concession holders) and $225 for juniors.

4.3 Bronze Membership: Bronze Membership is available to 

4.3.1 Access* up to 10 matches at the MCG through the 2017 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. Plus access* to the 2017 Toyota AFL Finals Series weeks 1 -2  at the MCG at Guest Pass Price. 

 

4.4   Family: To be eligible for a family discount, there must be two full fee-paying adults (adult members with no concessions) and one full fee-paying child (junior member). Any additional juniors will be provided with a complimentary Membership upon payment of the one-off junior joining fee (see clause 4.6) with no more than four juniors linked to one family for the purposes of this discount. The junior with the highest value Membership type will be required to pay the annual Membership fee.

4.5   Student: Student concession is available to students studying full-time in 2017 at an Australian Education Institution. Your Membership application/renewal form must be accompanied by a copy of your 2017 student card or a photocopy of a stamped, receipted 2017 enrolment form from your Australian education institution.

As a student you may defer your payment until 31 March 2017. If you choose to do this, you will be unable to utilise any of your Membership benefits until payment is made. Please contact the AFL Membership Service Centre on 1300 722 515 should you wish to defer payment. Students who renew their Membership at the Adult rate will be required to lodge their student concession request by close of business on 31 May 2017 to obtain the appropriate refund. Refund requests received after this time will not be accepted.

4.6   Pensioner:  Pension discounts apply to Members holding the following pensioner concession cards listed below* that are issued by Centerlink, the Department of Health and Community Services, the Department of Community Services or the Department of Veteran Affairs:

*Aged
*Disability support (DSP)
*Single Supporting Parents (PPS)
*War Veterans
*War Widows
*TPI Pensions

A photocopy of your pension card must accompany your renewal. Pension cards must be valid for the duration of the 2017 AFL Toyota Premiership Season. 

The pension discount does not apply to the following pensioner concession cards listed below^: 

^Disability Carers (CAR)
^New start (NS)
^Dependants listed on the pensioncard are NOT eligible for concession membership unless they hold their own pension card. The person issued the pension card is the only person eligble for a concession membership. 
^Health Care card holders

4.7   Junior: To be eligible for a Junior Membership, the applicant must be over the age of six and under the age of 17 as at 1 January 2017. Juniors aged six and under at 1 January 2017 can purchase an AFL Under 7 Membership. Juniors aged five and under do not require an AFL Membership, however they cannot access a seat at matches unless there are seats available in the AFL Reserve which have not been reserved. Only children aged three and under are entitled access Toyota AFL Finals Series matches free of charge, however they must not occupy a seat.

 4.8   Under 7: An Under 7 Membership is available for children under the age of 7 as at 1 January 2017. The fee for Under 7 Membership is the same fee payable for Junior Membership. Upon becoming an Under 7 Member, your child will be placed on the waiting list for Full Membership and receive an annual Under 7 Membership, allowing them to purchase reserved seating in the AFL Reserve at the MCG and Etihad Stadium (subject to capacity). An Under 7 Membership provides access equivalent to an AFL Silver Membership, excluding club of support entitlements.

4.9   Country: Full Members living in excess of 180km (as determined in accordance with Australia Post postcode data) from the Melbourne CBD are eligible for Country concession. When first applying for country concession, you will need to supply a statutory declaration, together with proof of residency (for example, a copy of your driver’s licence) to verify your address. When renewing a country concession, Full Members will be required to verify their country residential status each renewal period by submitting proof of residency with their renewal application. In all cases, PO Box addresses will not be accepted without supporting documentation.

4.10   Absentee: An Absentee Membership allows you to place your Membership on hold for a season (or multiple seasons if the annual fee for Absentee Membership is maintained) and allows you to return to the same Membership status and number when your circumstances change. Full and Silver Members may obtain an Absentee Membership for an annual fee of $140 (inc GST) for adults and $70 (inc GST) for juniors and upon provision of a letter or email (accompanying your renewal application) which outlines your Absentee status.

5. Guest Passes

The AFL may make Guest Passes available for sale to AFL Members. Guest Passes will be sold on a first-come, first served basis until sold out. AFL Members are advised to pre-purchase Guest Passes, particularly for high demand matches. Subject to availability, Guest Passes may be made available for sale at the gate on match day.

The standard limit on the number of Guest Passes is four per Member at the MCG and two per Member at Etihad Stadium for Toyota AFL Premiership Season matches, and one per Member at the MCG and at Etihad Stadium for Toyota AFL Finals Series matches (Weeks 1-3). The AFL reserves the right to vary the number of Guest Passes available to each Member at each venue as well as the total guest pass allocation. Once guest passes have been purchased, no refunds will apply except as required by law.

Guest Passes will not be available for the Essendon v Collingwood ANZAC Day match or the AFL Grand Final. Etihad Stadium Level 1 Guest Passes will not be available for matches featuring Essendon or Collingwood and further Guest Pass restrictions will be determined for high demand matches.

6.      Applicable Venues

AFL Membership access is limited to matches at the MCG and Etihad Stadium. Access to other venues will vary across clubs and will be communicated via membership.afl.com.au.

7.      Transferability

AFL Membership cards and associated benefits are for personal use only and may not be transferred to another person under any circumstances. Lending an AFL Membership card, or in any other way transferring AFL Membership benefits to another person, is a breach of AFL Membership terms and conditions and penalties apply (including downgrade or cancellation of the offending person’s AFL Membership). Regular ID checks will be carried out at grounds and online sale website searches will be conducted to detect any breaches of this condition. The AFL Membership card remains the property of the Australian Football League.

8.      AFL Membership Cards

AFL Members are required to carry their Membership card with them when attending a match, regardless of whether or not they have pre-booked a reserved seat. AFL Members who do not carry their card with them when attending a match will be required to pay an entrance fee at the same price as an AFL Members Guest Pass.

9.      No Resale

AFL Membership cards, AFL Reserve tickets and Guest Passes may not, without the prior written consent of the AFL, be resold or offered for resale at a premium (including via on-line auction sites) or used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes (including competitions and trade promotions) or to enhance the demand for other goods or services, either by the original purchaser or any subsequent bearer. If a ticket is sold or used in breach of this condition, the ticket may be cancelled without a refund and the bearer of the ticket may be refused admission. Penalties apply (including cancellation of any offending member’s AFL Membership without a refund).

Scalping warning: The resale of tickets in certain circumstances is governed by ticket sales legislation and may attract criminal penalties. The AFL Grand Final is a Declared Event under the provisions of the Major Sporting Events Act 2009 (Vic), a breach of which may be an indictable offence and allows your ticket to be cancelled.

10.   Club Support Packages

10.1 AFL Members may nominate a club of support as part of their AFL Membership application or renewal (Club Support Package). Your Club Support Package covers the cost of entry for your club’s home matches. Your club (or your club’s home venue(s)) will determine seating requirements and may require you to reserve a seat at an additional cost (either seasonally through your club of support or for individual matches through a nominated ticket agency).

10.2 Unless you advise otherwise in your Membership application or renewal, by nominating a club of support you are agreeing to your personal details being forwarded to the club so that it may contact you for club or commercial purposes, including fulfilment packs, upgrade products and finals access. Members will not be able to change their nominated club of support after 31 March 2017, but may opt out of receiving that club’s communications at any time.

11.   Payment

Payment of your AFL Membership fee may be made in one of two ways:

11.1 Full Payment: Your Membership fee can be paid via any one of the following methods: VISA, MasterCard, , MyPost Digital Mailbox, Australia Post Billpay, Cheque, Cash or EFTPOS.

11.2 Payment Plan: Except where otherwise stated, your Membership payments via a payment plan as follows:

11.2.1    AFL Advance Easy Pay monthly payments will be deducted in 10 equal instalments on the 28th of each month, beginning on 28 November 2016 via a nominated VISA or MasterCard only.

11.2.2    By signing with the AFL Advance Easy Pay payment plan you authorise the AFL to arrange a debit of funds from your nominated credit card in amounts and at intervals as advised.

11.2.3    All members on the AFL Advance Easy Pay payment plan are automatically included into an Auto Renewal Agreement, facilitating automatic rollover of your memberships from year to year.

11.2.4    Members can only opt out of the AFL Advance payment plan at the conclusion of their last instalment and prior to the first instalment for the following season by notifying the AFL either in writing or via email to membership@afl.com.au. All outstanding payments must be complete at time of opting out.

11.2.5    Members will be given at least 14 days’ notice in writing of changes in the new amount of their next season's membership and to the terms of AFL Advance Easy Pay payment plan agreement.

11.2.6    The first instalment will be withdrawn on November 28 2016, with further payments on the 28th of each following month. If any payment fails to transfer between institutions on the 28th, further attempts will be made to attempt to clear the fund transfer. In the event that the 28th of the month falls on a weekend, the payment will be withdrawn on the next business day.

11.2.7    Members applying for the AFL Advance Easy Pay payment plan after the first scheduled payment will have the number of required payments deducted to bring them up to date with the schedule and then subsequent payments at each specified date.

11.2.8    If your debit is returned or dishonoured by your financial institution, a letter will be sent requesting immediate payment. Any fees levied to you by your financial institution will be payable to you.

11.2.9    The AFL may suspend or cancel your membership if, on two consecutive occasions, your drawing is dishonoured by your financial institution.

11.2.10  It is your responsibility to ensure that: (a) the account details you have provided are correct, including notification should the expiry date change within the 10-month program; (b) you have sufficient clear funds available in the nominated account on the scheduled drawing date.

11.2.11  If your Membership is suspended or cancelled, you will not be able to gain access to any matches during the Premiership Season or the Toyota AFL Finals Series.

11.2.12  If you believe that a withdrawal has been initiated incorrectly, please contact the AFL Membership Service Centre on 1300 722 515. You will receive a full refund of the withdrawal amount if we cannot substantiate the reason for drawing.

11.2.13 All AFL Advance Easy Pay monthly instalments are subject to $10 administration fee and will be charged within 3 working days of the initial payment on November 28 2016. If the Member signs up after November 28 2016, the $10 administration fee will be charged within 3 working days of the next scheduled instalment. If the administraion fee payment fails to transfer between instutuins, further attempts will be made to attempt to clear the fund transfer. 

12.   GST and Levies

Except where expressly noted, all prices include GST and the $12 MCG levy (which applies to adults, pensioners and students).

13.   Refund Policy

As a general policy, AFL Memberships are non-refundable. Requests for refunds may be made in writing and are at the sole discretion of the AFL Membership Manager.

14.   Cancellation Policy

The AFL reserves its right to cancel a member’s AFL Membership without a refund where that member is deemed by the AFL to have breached these terms and conditions (including where that member attempts to transfer or sell their AFL Membership and/or associated benefits).

15.   Variation to AFL Membership Terms and Conditions

The AFL may from time to time where reasonably necessary vary the terms and conditions of AFL Membership. The AFL will communicate any change to the terms and conditions of AFL Membership via the AFL website. Members will have no claim against the AFL by reason of any change made to the terms and conditions of AFL Membership.

16.   AFL Member Code of Conduct

While barracking and supporting your club is a vital part of the game, offensive or aggressive behaviour (including yelling and swearing when dealing with AFL staff, agents or event staff) will not be tolerated. AFL Members who consume alcohol on a match day are to do so responsibly. Drunkenness will not be tolerated. AFL Members who breach the behaviour code of conduct may face penalties including cancellation of Membership without refund. The AFL has a strong stance on vilification and has a zero-tolerance for members or supporters who engage in conduct which may reasonably be considered to incite hatred towards, contempt for, ridicule of or discrimination against a person or group of persons (including the opposition, opposition supporters, or umpires) on the ground of their race, religion, gender, colour, sexual preference, orientation or identity, or special ability or disability.

17.   General Stadium Rules

AFL Members must adhere to the AFL’s Conditions of Entry into an AFL Venue, and must adhere to any further rules and restrictions imposed by the MCG and Etihad Stadium (or any other venue attended by the AFL Member). All AFL venues are smoke-free. Patrons are not permitted to bring alcohol into any venue and must adhere to strict restrictions placed on alcohol consumption in designated areas at all venues. Umbrellas are not permitted to be opened anywhere within viewing areas at any time on match day.

18.   Dress Standards

Dining rooms in the AFL Reserve at the MCG and Etihad Stadium maintain dress standards. The dress standard is neat casual - thongs, shorts and singlets are not permitted. Appropriate attire is also required in all seating areas. AFL Members who are not dressed appropriately will be denied entry.

 

19.   Saving Seats in the AFL Reserve

AFL Members are not permitted to save seats for latecomers. Attendants are authorised to remove items used to save seats. AFL Members must respect the temporary reservation of a seat should a Member who has entered the ground wish to vacate their seat briefly.

20.   MCG Crossovers

Crossover access into the public section of the MCG is at the discretion of the MCC and subject to change on match day. Crossovers into the public section are not available during International Cricket matches.

21.   Lost or Stolen Memberships Cards

A Member who loses an AFL Membership card will be provided with a new card upon providing the AFL with a statutory declaration stating that the card has been misplaced and upon payment of a card replacement fee of $5. The card will be replaced at no cost upon provision of a police report detailing the theft.

22.   No Voting Rights

AFL Membership does not grant AFL members any voting rights.

23.   Members Privacy

All personal information will be used, and may be disclosed, by the AFL (including for promotional and marketing purposes) in accordance with the AFL Privacy Policy available at www.afl.com.au/privacy.  By providing your personal information you agree to such use and disclosure by the AFL and confirm you have read and agree to be bound by the AFL Privacy Policy.
